Community Involvement
We love giving back to our local communities!
The BrickKicker of Georgia does more than provide thorough and reliable residential home and commercial property inspections in Athens, Atlanta, Gwinnett, Gainesville, Greensboro, Hartwell and northeast Georgia. We also love being an active part of our local communities.
Athens Area Homeless Shelter
The Athens Area Homeless Shelter provides collaborative, comprehensive services to homeless individuals and families working toward sustainable independence. The Athens Area Association of Realtors (AAAR) has a long standing commitment to provide monthly dinners for the shelter. The BrickKicker team has provided dinner for the shelter many times over the years as a member of the AAAR.
Food Bank of Northeast Georgia
The Mission of the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia is empowering the community to target the root causes of hunger and malnutrition by providing healthy food, nutrition education, and innovative distribution methods. In 2019 The BrickKicker Team spent a half day sorting food as part of the United Way Day of Caring.
The Athens Community Council on Aging
In May 11, 2018 Mike helped raise over $50,000 for the Athens Community Council on Aging (ACCA) as a member of the prom count and fundraiser for the 2018 ACCA RetroPROM. The ACCA’s mission is to promote a lifetime of wellness through engagement, advocacy, education and support. The entire BrickKicker Team supported the ACCA in 2018 by picking a day to assist a local Meals on Wheels volunteer so we could all better understand the need in the community and the mission of the ACCA.
The Clarke County Mentor Program
Mike served on the Board of Directors for The Clarke County Mentor Program for 3 years. The CCMP matched adults (mentors) with students (mentees) in all 21 schools in the Athens Clarke County School District. In addition to volunteering on the board, Mike has been a mentor to two students.
Hope Haven of Northeast Georgia
Mike served on the Board of Directors for Home Haven of Northeast Georgia for 6 years. Hope Haven believes in the uniqueness, worth, dignity, and right to self-determination of every individual. Their mission is to prepare, empower, and support individuals with developmental disabilities and their families to participate fully in the community.
Extra Special People
Mike participated in the Extra Special People (ESP) Big Jump fundraiser in 2020. ESP exists to create transformative experiences for people with disabilities and their families. The Big Jump fundraiser is an annual event that covers the cost of Summer Camp programs at several locations. (The 2020 event was rescheduled but Mike was able to jump out of a perfectly good airplane at the 2021 event.)
